Paraguayan 10 Year Old Raped By Stepfather Denied Abortion
Government officials in Paraguay denied a 10-year-old girl who was raped and impregnated by her stepfather an abortion, arguing the girl’s health is not at risk — the only condition under which the procedure is allowed in the country.
The case has gained global attention. Paula Avila-Guillen, advocacy adviser for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Center for Reproductive Rights, spoke with HuffPost Live on Wednesday about the controversy and what Paraguay can do to protect its women.
